Order of Operations is the first step into Algebra. Students learn to answer complicated problems but need to remember that they must be solved in a specific order.
Parenthese will be the first problem solved.
Exponents aren't taught till 6th grade.
Mult/Division are solved next but if there is more then one it must be worked out left to right through the problem.
Add/Subtract- same as above.
